Warren Buffet, the second richest man in the world is arriving in Bangalore for an Indian tour for raising money for his philanthrophic trust for which he has contribured millions of dollars.
So also the Bill gates.
I do not know how and where these billions are used. That is a different thing.
But What I used to wonder is why our Indian super rich Industrialists, the Ambanis, The Goenkas, the Birlas, the Tatas, the Jindals and Chettiars are not inclined to spend for the people of India, at least a part of their great wealth, accumulated by doing business in India.
I read about Mukesh Ambanis fabulous mansion, yacht, cars etc, which reeks of super rich owning thousands of crores of rupees.
What is their mentality? Dont they think about the poverty of their country? Dont they feel that they have to do some help to the poor of the nation?
After all he has become rich using the nations Oil & Gas, Cotton, land, labour and other raw materials.
I know only of Azim Premzi of WIPRO and Sudha Narayanamurthy of INFOSYS doing some social work.
What about the rest ?
Are they so selfish that they do not want to spend even 1% of their wealth for the poor?

I think it is wrong to say our corporate Honcos do not contribute to the social cause, Let us analyse TATA's they have contributed a lot to the nation building, how many of us have visited Tata Institute(PRESENTLY KNOWN AS INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE) while there is a department called allergry there still lies a fund for research on 'TROPICAL DESEASE' which was set up TATas in their name of the Great Grand mother in the early part of the century, Likewise we have Birlas also into charity, when you talk about Neo rich class like the Ambanis there may be exemption who are governed by Market economy and profits. The Narayan Murthy and Azim premji has definetely taken a lead.

Yes, the Tatas and the Birlas have done some good things for the public earlier.But they are not doing enough nowadays. As for the Ambanis, the less said is better.
